Dotography

I was inspired by the work of Simon Cryer who recreated David Bowie album covers from dots. It seemed like a cool Processing project, so I created a script that iterates over the pixels of album cover JPGs and composes these dot grids. Rather than just sampling one pixel to assign a color to a circle, I’m calculating the average color of the pixels under each circle. The result is a little more nuanced than a single-pixel color selection.
